General Policies
All payments must be made in full.
The Student Contract must be signed by both the parent/guardian and the student and submitted to the instructor on the first day of class.
We are required to keep a copy of the student’s driving permit on file.
Safe Teen Driving School reserves the right to remove any student from the program who is deemed disruptive in class or reckless behind the wheel.
Students must be a minimum of 15 years and 9 months old on the first day of class.
A learner’s permit is not required for the classroom sessions.
Attendance on Day 1 is mandatory.
Students must arrive on time and be prepared for class. Any student who is more than 15 minutes late, without prior notice, may not be permitted to enter and will need to make up the missed class on a future date.
Use of cell phones or electronic devices is not permitted during class sessions. In an emergency, the student must exit the classroom to use their device.
Disruptive students may be dismissed from class and required to make up the session at a later date.
All course units must be completed and all outstanding balances paid before the student may take the Final Exam.
Students must pass the Final Exam with a score of 80% or higher to successfully complete the classroom portion of the GLS program.
If a student fails the Final Exam, they must retake it until a passing score of 80% or higher is achieved. The first retake is free; subsequent retakes will incur a $60 fee.
Any student caught cheating will automatically fail and must retake the exam.
Class sessions will not be canceled due to inclement weather.
Missed classes must be made up with a future session (minimum 2 weeks for makeup).
In cases of severe or dangerous weather, class may be canceled and rescheduled. If there is only a “threat” of severe weather (e.g., a tornado watch vs. a warning), class may still be held. We will communicate any changes promptly.
Classes may also be canceled due to low enrollment.
No food or drinks are allowed in the classroom.
Each student will complete three behind-the-wheel sessions, each lasting two hours. Fifteen minutes of each session is reserved for administrative tasks.
Only one BTW session will be scheduled at a time. This allows time for skill development before the next session.
Students must show their physical driver’s license to the instructor before scheduling their first BTW.
Students must bring their physical driver’s license to every session. Failure to do so may result in session cancellation and a $60 fee.
BTW sessions must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $60 late cancellation fee.
We treat every scheduled class and drive as a commitment. We ask students and parents to share in this mutual respect for each others' time.
If a student is involved in an accident during a BTW session, they will not be held liable for damages unless caused by negligence or abusive behavior. In such cases, the student will be held responsible for repair costs.
Instructors have the right to terminate a session if the student refuses to follow directions or drives dangerously.
Although rare, students may be stopped by law enforcement while operating a driving school vehicle. Students must follow all traffic laws and road signs. Any tickets or citations issued are the student’s responsibility.
Students must pass their third BTW session with a score of 80% or higher and must not be involved in an avoidable accident in order to pass the behind-the-wheel portion.
If a student fails their third session, they must repeat it (and any necessary sessions after) at a rate of $60 per retake until a passing score is achieved.
Students needing extra support are encouraged to complete additional practice hours or speak with management for assistance.
BTW sessions will not be canceled due to ordinary inclement weather. However, students may still cancel but must do so on time to avoid the late cancellation fee.
In the event of severe or dangerous weather, BTW sessions will be canceled and rescheduled. If only a “threat” exists (e.g., tornado watch), sessions may proceed.
If uncertain about an appointment, students should call the school at least one business day in advance to confirm and avoid potential fees.
Upon completion of the 36-hour GLS program, certificates will be sent electronically to the MVA. They will not be sent directly to students.
Students will receive a class record for their own records. This is not required for the MVA Skills Test.
Certificates will only be issued after the following conditions are met:
Successful completion of the in-class portion with a score of 80% or higher.
Successful completion of the in-car assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
All balances are paid in full.
Students must complete the program within 18 weeks from the first day of class unless alternative arrangements are made with management.
Failure to complete the program within 18 weeks will result in an expired application and a $100 re-registration fee, in addition to any outstanding balances.
Refunds are issued upon request and paid by check. The following deductions will apply:
Attended classroom sessions: $12.50 each
Attended BTW sessions: $60 per hour
Late cancellation fees: $60
We do not sell or share any personal or identifying information of students, parents, or guardians.
Student records are securely stored for three years and then destroyed.
